What's Up February

   Happy Wednesday Thursday, Y'all

Today, I'm joining Shay and Sheaffer for February's What's Up Wednesday link-up. Oh, and Happy Leap Day! There's just something fun about a Leap Day. I don't know what it is... :)

Every month we answer the same list of questions based on how things are currently going in our lives.

So let's get started...

What am I eating?

I typically try to meal prep on the weekends since I have a bit more time to do so then. So this past weekend I made some black bean, tri-color bell peppers, and cheese burritos and some Spanish-ish rice. I added the "ish" to the end of it because it's actually just rice, a can of tomatoes, and some taco seasoning. And while it might not be anything fancy, it sure does taste good. So anywho - That's what I'm having for lunches this week. However, I keep forgetting to take a picture. So just take my word for it. It's good :)

What am I reminiscing about?

This picture popped up in my Facebook memories the other day. It's my brother and me a zillion or so years ago. Or maybe just 30+ years ago. Then that picture, of course, led me to dig even further to find more pictures, which of course, brought up all sorts of fun memories from over the years :)

 What am I loving?

I've shared the quote below before, but it's worth repeating. When I first started teaching, I couldn't imagine myself ever teaching higher than the youngest kiddos in elementary school. But over the years, that changed. And now I can't imagine teaching any other age :)

What have I been up to?

This past weekend, some friends and I went to watch some of our guys play softball out near the coast. Y'all, I have loved coming to this field to watch softball over the years. It's so nice. It's close to the water so you can hear the waves crashing and the view is stunning! Not to mention, it's just such a nice place to go and hang out with friends for the day. Plus, I'm watching a sport I actually understand and enjoy watching. So I was glad I got to go this weekend. And the burger I had for lunch was pretty good too. So there was that bonus as well :)

What am I dreading?

January's answer for this question still holds fairly true. I'm dreading going outside and breathing in the thick dust that coats the air, and our lungs too, at this time of year here. Y'all, it's awful. I do so love cool season, but I so do not love this dust.

What am I working on?

This morning I printed the programs for this weekend's senior class fundraiser, which is a school-wide talent show, so some of our seniors can fold them during our work time tomorrow... It's been fun seeing this all come together. I can't wait for the weekend to finally arrive :)

 What am I excited about?

I'm feeling the "contagious" excitement of our seniors. I know I talk about them a lot. But they're an easy topic to talk about after all. :) But yeah... I love hearing them excitedly talk about their plans for the future. I love when one stops by to tell me what college they were accepted into or if one asks if they can sit and chat for a while and they tell me about what's going on in their lives, and that excitement about the future starts spilling out.

What am I watching?

I've been watching reruns of The Office. Just something mindless, letting me turn my brain off for a few minutes and having a funny show to laugh at a little bit in the evenings... It's been nice :)

What am I reading?

I've been reading through a short devotional on the book of Psalms for the last week-ish. It's one I found in the YouVersion Bible app on my phone. It has a short devotion and a section of Psalms to read each day, so it's been nice starting my day with that each morning. But it's also made me want to dive deeper into the book, as a whole. So I'm thinking I'll do that once I'm done with this devotional next week.

What am I listening to?

Nothing new. Anyone have any suggestions?

What am I wearing?

This week is Spirit Week at my school. And I made it my mission to incorporate pajamas, or at least comfy clothes, every single day this week. So far, I've succeeded. Day 1 was Pajama Day. And since Day 2 was Teachers dress as students/Students dress as teachers Day, that was easy... Jeans and a hoodie for the win. I would have worn PJ pants then too, but I needed to run to the store during my planning time to buy some stuff we needed for our senior fundraiser happening this upcoming weekend. Yesterday was a little trickier, as it was Movie/Book Character Day. But thankfully I had a fun Snoopy t-shirt, so I made that work for me. And then today, was Wacky Tacky Day so I wore PJ pants and a fun (yet non-matching) t-shirt.

What am I doing this weekend?

I'm a co-sponsor for our senior class and this weekend is our last fundraiser, a school-wide talent show where students/staff perform at singing, dancing, playing instruments, acting in skits, etc. Our seniors plan and run the entire event. It's always such a fun and enjoyable event to attend/watch. And it's been even more special this year since I'm one of the sponsors of the class running it. I can't wait to see everything finally come together this weekend. I have so loved working with these kids! And I can't wait for this weekend!

What am I looking forward to next month?

Technically, I could say the same answer as what I said for the last question, since March starts on Friday. But past that, I'm looking forward to my schedule getting back to normal next week and not being so busy again. And Spring Break starts at the end of the month, which bring me almost 2 full weeks of no alarm setting each day, so there's that too :)

Favorite recent Amazon find?

I've ignored Amazon for a while. My wallet stays happier that way. ha! :)

What's new this month?

One of my classes wrote a big research paper. So it's been fun watching the writing process kind of come to life through the research and writing done in class. Not to mention comparing students' writings now with their writings in previous years... Ah, my teacher heart is so proud to see such growth in my students. What a gift it has been (is) to be the teacher to such incredible kids :)

And that's what I'm up to this month.

What about you?

What are YOU up to this month?
