A Pretend Coffee Date

Happy Friday Y'all

It's been a while since my last Coffee Date post. So I thought now would be a good time to write a new one.

If COVID-19 wasn't continuing to spread and if restaurants were still open, I'd probably ask if you wanted to run out and grab a cup of coffee or if you wanted to go sit at a restaurant in town and eat lunch and chat.

But alas, here we are.

So let's pretend...

If we were on a coffee date, I'm sure we'd talk about how we are in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. I'd tell you how I even wrote a few of my thoughts on this whole thing the other day. I wrote about how even though lots of bad is happening, I can still trust in God.

If we were on a coffee date, I'd ask how you are doing. I think that in the midst of our own thoughts/emotions/To Do Lists, we sometimes forget to check on our people. It's so important to do that - to let people know you care.

If we were on a coffee date, I'd tell you that a highlight/favorite of my week was the video chat I had with my nieces. They each read a story to me. Then I read one to them. And then we talked and talked. It was such a special moment and it was a memory I'll always cherish, for sure!

If we were on a coffee date, I'd tell you about a sermon series a friend shared on Facebook recently. The series was on prayer. I've listened to it a few times since then and have found it to be quite encouraging. And yes, I did go to YouTube and listen to a few more of his sermons/lectures, as well :)

If we were on a coffee date, I'd tell you that I've really enjoyed the cooler temps we've been having here in Dakar lately. It's been a nice change. And anyone who knows me well at all, knows cooler temps are my favorite, for sure.

If we were on a coffee date, I'd tell you about a purchase I made last week. Y'all, I never buy grapes here. I will only eat seedless grapes, which are hard to find here. And on top of that, grapes are typically super expensive here. So I just typically refrain... But these were seedless AND a decent price. So I jumped at the chance to get them. And oh my, were they good...

If we were on a coffee date, I'd tell you that taking grad school classes in the midst of teaching/planning online school lessons, and having my brain pulled in a zillion directions thanks to a worldwide pandemic has been difficult. I love learning new things. I love taking classes/being a student. But it's been hard, y'all. My professor has been amazingly helpful though. What a blessing!

If we were on a coffee date, I’d tell you that I finally watched The Sound of Music the other day. For the first time ever! And I loved it! I’m already thinking about watching it again before Spring Break’s over. And I’m daydreaming of visiting Salzburg one day, and too. That is, when COVID-19 is a distant memory... :)

If we were on a coffee date, I'd tell you that I've been slowly reading/journaling through the book of Habakkuk recently. And every day, I'm finding new nuggets of goodness. I love how God knows exactly what we need (to read) when we need it!

So what about you?

If we were on a coffee date, what would you tell me?

Today, I'm joining ErikaAndrea, and Narci and for their weekly Friday Favorites linkup and sharing a virtual coffee date with my readers. And it totally counts. Coffee dates (or rather, tea for me) are always a favorite of mine!
